Follow Up

It is imperative to inform the patient and their family of the possibility of MH.

Relatives should be advised to alert as many members of the family as they can to this possibility in order to avoid preventable catastrophes.

It is also imperative that a definitive diagnosis is established, otherwise the patient and their extended family may be inappropriately labelled as MH susceptible and may therefore receive anaesthesia that it is not the safest and best for them in future.

The diagnosis of malignant hyperthermia should proceed according to international consensus guidelines.
